While blaming Trump for the current state of America is convenient, we forget that Trump is using tools that already existed to further his causes. Meaning that he did not CREATE ICE detention facilities. Abuses of power by ICE already occurred under Obama and previous administrations, but Trump made them worse. The fact that federal agents are in Portland is due to the American people not understanding their constitution and constantly giving the Federal government more power. Trump did not CREATE Federal police, they have existed over time.

There are currently 38 different categories of federal crimes apportioned to separate federal agencies including such things as abortion clinic access, arson, and credit card fraud. Most states have clearly defined laws concerning murder, theft, drug possession, and assault which do not require federal intervention.
