I was with you until this point - “The universe has your back because you’re pretty and privileged…”
Pretty and privileged? Right. I was born into a Jain-hindu family, became an atheist when I was 13, and then converted to Christianity at age 24. I spent years learning about religions, spirituality, atheism, and philosophy. I want to know where my privilege is. My father’s business was burned down due to arson 25 years ago, my mother was diagnosed with ataxia 10 years ago and is literally a vegetable - she can’t eat properly, can barely speak, can’t walk, and is in constant pain. Where is my privilege?
Your criticism of religion lacks intellectual austerity. I see my faith as an intellectual practice. Defining an entire religion based on the behaviors of people like Joel Osteen is just as bad as defining all hindus by Osho (who, by the way only became famous because he had millions of white followers looking to “free” themselves from American society.
