I don’t fully buy this whole fascism thing, although “America First” does have roots in fascist ideology. We know this, and we also know that all of Trump’s moves - ICE, making legal immigration harder, tariffs with Mexico, China, and japan. - are exactly the type of moves that a xenophobic and racist president would do. But also, in his mind, setting tariffs is in some way helping American businesses. History shows us something completely different. Look up Hoover’s Smoot–Hawley Tariff Act. It completely devastated the economy.

But calls of stopping fascism to me gives Trump too much credit. He’s too caught up in his own corruption and trying to make himself money to really care about world domination.

The age range of tiktock users is 18-34 (https://www.businessofapps.com/data/tik-tok-statistics) so it doesn’t make sense for Trump to piss off this large bloc of voters.

What’s more TikTok is an entrepreneurial outlet, similar to people making money from blogging, youtube, medium, etc. So it wouldn’t make sense for a leader to outright ban something that would be beneficial for the economy, especially when they claim that the economy is good because of them.

I really do think that Trump is caught up in his own conspiracy theories. He blames China for Covid-19, and so he wants to get back at them anyway he can. There’s a ton of Anti-Chinese sentiment brewing in the U.S. So I feel this is more about Trump just pandering to his base and nothing else.

I’m a first generation Indian-American with brown skin, but that shouldn’t matter anyway. My politics are right smack in the middle.
